The Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley Institute has mounted From Memory to Movement: Emmett at 85, a powerful group exhibition commemorating what would have been the 85th birthday of Emmett Till. Curated by Raymond A. Thomas, the exhibition opened June 5 and continues through July 25, 2026, at Blanc Gallery.
Featuring painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media works by contemporary Black artists from Chicago and beyond, the exhibition examines themes of memory, resistance, identity, and liberation. Rather than focusing solely on Till’s tragic death, the artists explore the fullness of his life, asking viewers to consider who Emmett was as a son, a dreamer, and a young Black boy whose legacy continues to resonate across generations.
In his curatorial statement, Thomas notes that the exhibition is “not merely an act of memorialization, but an urgent collective reflection on a life cut short and the legacy that continues to shape Black memory, identity, and resistance in America.” The works on view bridge past and present, confronting grief and injustice while celebrating resilience, courage, and cultural continuity.
The exhibition also honors the enduring legacy of Mamie Till-Mobley, whose decision to publicly reveal the brutality inflicted upon her son became a transformative moment in the American Civil Rights Movement. Together, the artists present a compelling vision of remembrance as action, demonstrating how Emmett Till’s story continues to inspire movements for justice, truth, and liberation today.

ROBERT E. HANSEN UNVEILS CULTURE OF LEGACY
A Groundbreaking Immersive Art Collection Honoring the Music Icons Who Shaped Black Culture
In celebration of Black Music Month, acclaimed immersive artist Robert E. Hansen has unveiled Culture of Legacy — a limited-edition capsule collection where fine art becomes collectible apparel. Launching exclusively at iamroberthansen.com, the collection transforms the stories of Black music and cultural icons into wearable works of art — blending art, storytelling, and innovation into pieces designed to be collected as lasting tribute.
The inaugural capsule features portraits honoring Stevie Wonder, Tupac Shakur, Prince, and Michael Jackson. Through Hansen’s signature mixed-media process, each portrait is composed of thousands of archival-inspired images woven together to reflect the depth of each icon’s artistry, activism, and cultural influence. The experience goes further: powered by the ARTIVIVE App, Hansen’s work unlocks augmented reality storytelling — cinematic commentary and cultural context developed in collaboration with educator and documentarian T.L. Cross and curated alongside cultural architect Drego Moore.
“Black music is one of America’s greatest cultural gifts, and the stories behind the artists deserve to be preserved, celebrated, and experienced in new ways,” says Hansen.
The collection is available in sizes Small through X-Large. To preserve exclusivity and collector value, only 1,000 pieces of each design will be produced. When the collection closes on June 30, 2026, these designs will be retired — giving collectors, music lovers, and culture enthusiasts a limited opportunity to own a distinctive tribute to the enduring legacy of Black music.
Robert E. Hansen is a Harlem-born immersive artist and visual storyteller whose work fuses fine art, technology, and culture. His proprietary process combines thousands of images, embedded digital technology, and interactive storytelling to transform traditional artwork into living, multi-dimensional experiences. His work has been featured by Nike Basketball, HBO, Sprite, New York Fashion Week, the Pan African Film & Arts Festival, and Bentley USA.
