It’s Art Week in Miami and Pigment International is proud to again bring you a capsule of the activities around Black art. The city literally vibrates with Black creativity and considering the current state of politics — anyone for taking Ghana up on that citizenship offer — it’s clear there will be statements made, and no bananas involved.

Empowered Unity 3 by Olaniyi Omotayo

igment International is adopting — ART | ACTIVISM | ELEVATING BLACK WOMEN — as its ‘north star’, for 2025. More to come.

Tag Pigment International in your Miami pics and we might include them in our next newsletter. And remember not just art, the fashion in Miami is always off the chain, and don’t forget shoes.

Enjoy Miami Art Week and can’t wait to see our pics. Want more? Visit Sugar Cane Magazine’s 10th edition of the Black Art Guide Art Week.

And revel in a little Black Art History while you’re in Miami. According to collector, Dr. Michael Butler, the Florida Highwaymen were considered among the last great American art movement. Learn more about them in this Pigment Newsletter and see their work below.

Creativity in the arts can emerge from the most unlikely of places. What some consider the last great American Art Movement of the 20th century emerged from southeast Florida at the hands of itinerant, self-taught Black artists.
