Join Pigment International at The Other Art Fair, March 27–30 at Artifact Events in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood. The collective will again serve as a media partner, and host artists at the show. New this year is The Artisan Edit featuring decorative artwork made of glass, ceramic, metal or wood mediums.

Artist Ladipo with his wire sculpture

Pigment artists include painters Thomas Lockhart and Kristen Williams; photographer Krystal Boney, ceramicist Gary Gee, wire sculptor Ladipo, multimedia artists Reggie McFly and Candace Hunter, and sculptor D. Lamar Preston. The artists will be on hand for meet and greets during the show.

The organization will also host the DREAM, Chicago Youth Art Challenge (CYAC), mentees for a tour of the exhibition. CYAC is an initiative of The Four Arts Men, a collective of renowned Chicago-based artists passionate about providing a platform for young artists to express themselves and make a positive impact through art. They are Barrett Keithley, Blake Lenoir, Eddie Santana White and Dwight White.

DREAM has been expanded to a 10-month long mentoring program, and TOAF will be the first outing for the young artists. Applications are being accepted through March 31 and can be found here.

D. LAMMIE HANSON TO SHOWCASE WORK AT BELLA FINE ART IN SCOTTSDALE

Bella Fine Art will host an exhibition of work by D. Lammie-Hanson, a Chicago based, self-taught contemporary artist from Harlem. She specializes in large metalpoint drawings that capture the human spirit. Lammie-Hanson was selected to exhibit at the “Personal Structures” exhibit during the 60th Venice Biennale in Italy with Knowhere Art Gallery. Her second metalpoint series, “Indigo Seven: Gilded Agility,” featuring goldpoints of ballet dancers on indigo substrates, will debut at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago in the summer of 2024. The show opens with an Artist Talk on March 9th and continues through April.

In 2017, during a self-directed residency in Barcelona, Hanson honed her skills in the metalpoint technique, using thin metal wires on dark surfaces, a method dating back to the Renaissance. One of her notable works from this period, “A Portrait of a Beautiful Black Man,” was exhibited in the “Louisiana Contemporary” exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans.
